The skin is the largest organ of the body, with an area of about 2 sq. m., and acts as a barrier against the external environment, protecting internal organs from physical, chemical, and biological agents—traumas, burns, microorganisms, etc. The skin performs numerous functions—protective, hormonal, immunological, sensory, thermoregulatory, and more. Skin diseases are among the most common and are diagnosed and treated by dermatologists.

The health of our skin is a mirror of the state of the entire body. Regular dermatological exams are necessary for the prevention of cancerous skin formations and proper skin care.

During a dermatological exam, the skin and visible mucous membranes are examined for pathological changes and diseases.
